Product Overview
Warm mix asphalt additive enables asphalt mixtures to be produced and compacted at temperatures 30–50°C lower than conventional hot mix asphalt. By improving binder lubrication and aggregate coating at lower temperatures, it helps plants save fuel, reduce emissions, and maintain compaction quality during cooler weather or long haul distances.
The additive is suitable for asphalt plants, paving contractors, and infrastructure owners aiming to reduce energy use while maintaining pavement performance.
Where to Use
- Dense-graded asphalt surface and base mixes
- Stone mastic asphalt and modified asphalt mixes
- High-RAP mixes requiring better workability
- Cooler-season paving projects
- Long-distance hauling where mix temperature loss is a concern
- Urban paving where lower smoke and odor are important
Benefits
- Energy Savings — Lower burner temperature reduces fuel consumption.
- Lower Emissions — Reduced production temperature cuts fumes and greenhouse gas output.
- Better Workability — Mixture remains easier to place and compact at lower temperatures.
- Longer Paving Window — Supports construction in cooler ambient conditions.
- Improved Work Environment — Less smoke and odor around the paver and compaction crew.
Application Guidance
The additive can be introduced into the binder or dosed during mixing, depending on plant configuration and product form. Final dosage should be confirmed through mix design, coating evaluation, and compaction trials.
